How to Buy the Perfect Teacher Gift

How to Buy the Perfect Teacher Gift

Let’s Talk Teacher Gifts

Let me start by saying, I have a lot of experience giving and receiving gifts as a teacher.  There are some definite no-no’s when it comes to giving your special teacher a gift.

Please don’t give a mug, for any reason, at any time.  I repeat: DO NOT GIVE A TEACHER A MUG.  We have mugs in all shapes and sizes.  We have a million mugs and don’t need any more.  We also don’t need cheap chocolates, little statues, or anything that looks like you found it in the back of your closet.

With that being said, there are a million great teacher gifts out there.

Gift Cards are so much better than any of the above mentioned items, even if you only spend $5.  Just think, a $5 gift card to Target can get us pens, pencils, paper, or numerous other items we need.  Besides, all teachers love to shop at Target.  Another winning gift card is Amazon.  Teachers spend a lot of time on their devices researching new ways to teach our students.  Many times, we follow the link and can purchase the item from Amazon immediately.  Again, it doesn’t need to be for very much.

Gift cards to restaurants are also amazing.  After a long day teaching the kiddos, it’s nice to be able to pamper ourselves and go out to eat.  And don’t forget a Starbucks card.  Teachers love coffee!

School Supplies-  All great teachers spend their own money on school supplies.  Sending a ream of paper will melt your teacher’s heart.  We get excited about new and fun supplies.  Teachers love Sharpies, Flair pens, stickers, post-it notes, etc.

If the above mentioned items aren’t personal enough for you, there are many other options.  Teachers carry their school bag back and forth from school every day.  They need a bag that will hold a laptop and also their teacher’s manuals.  This one is lightweight and looks great!

On the more expensive side, fitness trackers are the perfect gift.  We are on our feet all day and love to see how many steps we’ve logged.  You can collect a few dollars from each student and get your child’s teacher a Fitbit.  I love my Blaze.  Not only does it keep track of my steps, but if I have an urgent text message or email I see it right away.

I hope this gives you some ideas for your child’s teacher.
